Sights and Sounds
The pier is a great place to spend an afternoon watching the boats come in and out of the harbour. And if you’re feeling peckish, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat. Brighton’s many pubs also offer a great chance to meet some locals and sample their craft beers.
Brighton also has many sights such as the Royal Pavilion which was built in 1787 by George IV who wanted a summer home away from London. There are also many interesting things to do such as visiting the Lanes which are narrow cobbled streets lined with small independent shops or taking one of the many boat trips that leave from Brighton Marina.
Brighton has a reputation as a gay-friendly city, with the official Brighton Pride festival attracting over 100,000 visitors every year. The Pride Festival is held in the second week of August each year and is filled with many events such as the parade, fairground rides, music stages and art exhibitions. If you are planning on heading to Brighton during this week, it’s worth booking your accommodation, very far in advance.
